In 2009 the Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Aviation Association were able to raise $15,000 for New Horizons of Northwest Florida, Inc., Escambia Westgate School, The Miracle League of Pensacola, Gulf Coast Kids House, Boys and Girls Club of Escambia County and the Independence Fund. With your help, we hope to raise even more!

New Horizons of Northwest Florida, Inc. originated in 1942 to serve polio victims, but even after the eradication of polio continues to serve the local community. With the support of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #33, New Horizons started a home and has been serving developmentally and physically challenged people in our community ever since. The services provided by New Horizons include "habilitation training, medical monitoring, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral training, all personalized to the needs of each client."

Escambia Westgate School traces its origins to the Petree School, founded by Mrs. Lucy Petree in 1946 for mentally and physically handicapped students. With community support, the school expanded dramatically and now "serves the needs of Pre-K, Elementary, Middle, and High School students with varying exceptionalities," with the mission "to ensure that each student's inherent capacity for growth is nurtured and developed regardless of his functioning level."

The Miracle League of Pensacola "was founded in February 2002 with a vision to provide children with mental and/or physical challenges the opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. The league provides an opportunity these children might not otherwise ever have. In the Miracle League of Pensacola (MLP), every player plays, every player hits, every player gets on base, every player scores, and every player wins - every inning."

Gulf Coast Kids House "was founded in 1997 after realizing child abuse intervention and prevention system needs to be integrated with a unified system. The vision of Gulf Coast Kid's House is to provide a place where child protective services, law enforcement, prosecution, medical and mental health professionals' work together under one roof to provide comprehensive services."

Boys and Girls Club of Escambia County "Boys & Girls Clubs of Escambia County strives to enhance the lives of young people through safe, productive after school programs and summer day camps. Since 1970, we have provided children with a positive place, results-oriented programming and a professional staff to guide them. Last year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Escambia County served more than 500 young people through its Clubs. We operate 2 full-time locations, in Pensacola and our newest site in Century."
